Affiliated Blind of Louisiana Receives Donation from Optelec to Aid Visually Impaired
Optelec donates 5 portable magnifiers to Affiliated Blind of Louisiana. The magnifiers will put the power to see in the hands of visually impaired staff members.
(PRWEB) April 5, 2004--Optelec US, Inc. announced today that it has presented
the Affiliated Blind of Louisina with a donation of 5 portable magnifiers, for
use by their visually impaired employees.
The HandiView units, valued at
more than $1,000 dollars, are illuminated stand magnifiers with integrated
cameras. The units can be attached to any television and magnify text and photos
up to 20 times, enabling those with low vision to read again. This donation will
enable Affiliated Blind to put the power to see in the hands of visually
impaired staff members, responsbile for training blind and blind-deaf
individuals the skills that lead to independence, employment and community
integration.
Affiliated Blind of Louisiana, Inc. was founded in 1983 as a
private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing special services and
training to Louisiana's visually impaired, blind, and deaf-blind populations.
