CPW Rehab Offers Free Aquatics Exercise Classes in May

In celebration of National Arthritis Month and National Senior Health & Fitness Day, CPW Rehab is offering free aqautics exercise classes.

Toledo, OH (PRWEB) May 5, 2004 -- The month of May is filled with health-related celebrations. May is National Arthritis Month, Physical Fitness & Sports Month and Older Americans Month. National Kinesiotherapy Week and National Senior Health and Fitness Day are also celebrated in May. In support of improving health and wellness during the month of May, Central Park West Rehabilitation Center (CPW Rehab) is offering the following free aquatics exercise classes:

Arthritis Aquatics Plus    May 12th 5:00-6:00 PM
Ai Chi            May 19th 5:00-6:00 PM
Body Better H2O        May 26th 5:00-6:00 PM

The free classes, led by specially trained instructors, include two arthritis management classes, a total body and conditioning class and Ai Chi, which is relatively new to CPW Rehab. Ai Chi is a simple water exercise and relaxation program consisting of combinations of deep breathing and broad movements of the arms, legs and torso in flowing continual patterns. The classes will be held in the 94° rehabilitative pool at CPW Rehab. For more information or to reserve a place call 419.841.9622.

The free classes are part of CPW Rehab’s Medical Fitness Program. The Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Aquatics program has been a popular program at CPW Rehab since 1989. More recently, in response to public demand, the facility has added a more advanced Arthritis Aquatics Plus class and Massage Therapy. According to Cindy Binkley, RKT and administrator of CPW Rehab, people often find supervised exercise classes more motivational than home exercise programs. “We offer a range of supervised exercise programs that are designed to be both affordable and motivating,” says Ms. Binkley.

All of the Medical Fitness programs, except Massage Therapy, are overseen by registered kinesiotherapists with the assistance of the rehab aides. These programs are open to the public and require a physician consent form to participate.
