Core Stability for Effective Back and Neck Pain Management
Core Concepts offers core stability exercise training for effective back and neck pain management by qualified physiotherapist trainers
SINGAPORE (PRWEB) May 15, 2004 -– Singaporeans who suffer from chronic back
and neck pains can now learn exercises that specifically target the weak
supporting back muscles from Singapore’ dedicated core stability training
centre, Core Concepts.
General exercises such as running and swimming are
great for general fitness conditioning but often does little or nothing for the
core muscles that lie deep within the trunk. Those with chronic back and neck
pains should supplement their exercise regime with core stability exercises that
specifically target their core muscles.
Speaking at an open day event at
Core Concept today with free trial exercise classes, Sylvia Ho, a
physiotherapist at the centre, explained that a large number of back and neck
pain cases are due to weak postural muscles. For persons with chronic pains,
these key core muscles are often weak and have poor endurance.
Ms Tan
Lin Chueen, 34, a senior executive at local IT firm, suffered from constant neck
and shoulder pain, and migraine headaches. “Because of my headaches, I often
found it hard to it get a good night’s sleep. Since I started strengthening my
core neck muscles at Core Concepts, my neck and shoulder pains have reduced
considerably and my migraines have disappeared,” said Lin
Chueen.
Exercise, unlike most other forms of treatments, requires the
active participation of the client. At Core Concepts, the trainers have a strong
belief in education. They work closely with its clients to ensure that they
understand not only how to do the exercises, but also how and why it works. This
enables the client to do the exercises more effectively.
“As part of our
efforts on back and neck pain education, the trial classes allowed people to
find out more about core stability training and to chat with our physiotherapist
trainers,” said Sylvia. Over 120 persons signed-up for the trial exercise
classes.
