SURGICAL OUTCOMES™ Information Exchange To Release the GI Outcomes Version of the Outcomes Monitoring System
GI Outcomes provides procedure level benchmarking and outcomes monitoring for ambulatory gastroenterological procedures.
RICHMOND, VA (PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -– Surgical Outcomes today announced it
will release the GI version of its Outcomes Monitoring System next month. GI
Outcomes is designed to collect procedure specific information on procedures
performed by ambulatory members of the company. The information is collected via
proprietary software or data entry forms. The data is extrapolated and analyzed
using approved statistical algorithms to determine the various clinically
significant values. The total values for the facility are then measured against
other facilities performing the same procedure to determine the national
benchmark.
The product will provide data on various clinically
significant values such as perioperative complications, delays in discharge,
returns to surgery, pain management, and patient satisfaction.
“Benchmarking and outcomes monitoring is largely ignored in the
ambulatory care industry. Many facilities are performing thousands of surgical
procedures annually with little oversight on measuring themselves against their
peers,” said Damien Gray, Marketing Director for Surgical Outcomes. “We
recognize the growing need for specialty outcomes monitoring within the
endoscopy community. We will fulfill these needs by providing a product that
helps improve the quality of care for the facilities performing these
procedures.”
“Physicians performing these procedures may be aware of
their own patient outcomes, a need for statistically reliable data for
comparison purposes is well recognized. Working with a panel of GI endoscopy
specialists, we have developed a means by which such data can be captured,
analyzed, and shared with a network of ambulatory surgery providers,” said
Jennifer Green, VP of Network Development for Surgical
Outcomes.
“Specialization in medicine is an important way to signal
quality of care. Our new line of specialty products, beginning with GI Outcomes,
will help keep surgery centers competitive in the marketplace,” said Lou
Rossiter, the company’s president.
