STROKE OF HOPE founded by Hazella Rollins-LaVar professional opera singer, wife, and new mother to a 12-day old infant when she suffered a dissection of the left brain-stem artery, leaving her partially paralyzed and unable to walk, talk or swallow. Since that time Hazella has been on a mission to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors and their caregivers.

Chapter presents, “A Weekend of Hope” February 10th-13th. STROKE OF HOPE
FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization 501(c)3, committed to improving the
quality of life for people affected by Stroke.

Rollins-LaVar professional opera singer, wife, and new mother to a 12-day old
infant when she suffered a dissection of the left brain-stem artery, leaving her
partially paralyzed and unable to walk, talk or swallow. Since that time Hazella
has been on a mission to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors and
their caregivers. STROKE OF HOPE provides support for Stroke Survivors, their
Care Partners, and families by advocating for the rights of the disabled,
encouraging physical and emotional recovery, and maintaining an on-line support
system.
“A Weekend of Hope” kicks off with a Chico’s Shopping Event. Shop
at Chico’s Boutique, 1845 North Clybourn Avenue, any time during regular store
hours February 8th through February 13th and Chico’s will donate 10% of all
sales to the Stroke of Hope Foundation. Looking for something more intimate? The
Chicago Stroke of Hope Chapter invites you to a special wardrobe party
extravaganza. Thursday, February 10th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and Saturday,
February 12th from 8:00am until 10am, these intimate affairs will include
shopping, fashion consultations, food, drinks, and extra
surprises! Reserve the date today to shop in an
intimate, private, and cozy atmosphere—all the while supporting a great cause.
Chico’s will also donate 10% of all sales from these events to the Stroke of

On Saturday, February
12th Stroke of Hope will be ‘Striking for Hope’ at a Midnight Bowling fundraiser
held at Olympia Lanes, 4150 Calumet Avenue, Hammond, IN. ‘Striking for Hope’ is
a night of family bowling fun and gets everyone involved in the cause. We’ll be
striking from 10:30 pm till 1:00am. ‘Striking for Hope’ tickets are $20 and

The weekend of hope will
culminate in Chicago’s historic Bronzeville on Sunday, February 13th with an
Afternoon Tea hosted by Hazella Rollins-LaVar there Hazella will share her
amazing story of faith, power, and triumph.
