Volume Rendering to Save Lives

New software for imaging the heart, colon and other internal organs now runs on low cost PCs, allowing wider access to diagnostic imaging. Additional capabilities, including automatic flythrus, 3D stereo viewing and overlay of multiple datasets are designed to detect abnormal growths, locate coronary deposits and view complex CT, MRI and PET data for better understanding of the current state of patient status.

(PRWEB) July 25, 2004 -- Widespread availability of high performance CT medical rendering has eluded medical staff, educators and students due to the high cost of entry. Now, an Atlanta based firm called 3DH has released a real-time volume rendering tool that runs on personal computers. The program, called VoxelPro, has all the features of supercomputer versions, including virtual colonoscopy, non-invasive vivisectioning, isodensity surfaces and over one hundred other features required by the medical profession.

VoxelPro features were directed by doctors and radiologists, and implemented by a seasoned team of software developers. Leveraging the massive investments made by hardware companies for realistic gaming, 3DH repurposed off-the-shelf hardware to deliver real-time, low cost solutions for medical radiology, cardiology and oncology.

Key features of VoxelPro include: multiple superimposed datasets, complex transfer functions, 3D image processing for contrast enhancement, measurement tools, slicing along multiple arbitrary planes, stereo display, automatic navigation through the colon or arteries, support for time based datasets, support of Dicom formats, saving of movie files and much more.

3DH has set pricing of VoxelPro to make it accessible to clinics, researchers and educators. See www.voxelpro.com for more information.
