(PRWEB) February 25, 2004--Fastest Growing Physician Placement Firm Creates New Company Dallas, Tex. Jan. 20, 2004.

Delta Medical Consulting, one of the largest physician placement firms in the nation is announcing it’s newly created subsidiary, which will provide temporary physician placement services to hospitals and clinics. The new company is called Delta Locum Tenens. Locum Tenens is a Latin phrase meaning “holding a place” and is the common medical industry term referring to temporary physicians. Delta Locum Tenens has already begun a staged rollout of temporary placement services including M.D. and D.O. Radiologists, Anesthesiologists and C.R.N.A.’s (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists). Initially Delta Locum Tenens will offer service in five states; Texas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. Later in 2004 Delta Locum Tenens plans to expand into other states and provide temporary placement services in additional medical specialties like family practice and occupational medicine.

Delta Medical Consulting, the parent company of Delta Locum Tenens, was recently named by the Dallas Business Journal as the 17th Fastest Growing Small Business in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas metro area. Jeff Bowling, CEO of Delta Medical Consulting is quoted, “We’ve experienced double-digit growth each of the seven years we’ve been in the permanent physician placement industry. And our original strategy was to stay exclusively focused on the placement of permanent physicians for hospitals and communities that couldn’t find good physicians on their own. But the ever-increasing demand for temporary physicians from our existing client base created the impetus to spin off a locums company.”
Sherri Carlton, Director of Delta Locums Tenens, and previously with a Houston-based locums company will head the new firm’s temporary placement services. Carlton says that the firm chose to roll out

Radiology and Anesthesia services first because hospitals have the most frequent needs for temporary physicians in those specialties. According to Carlton, “If a hospital is missing its Radiologist due to illness or vacation then diagnostic evaluations can’t be completed and new patients can’t be correctly treated. And without an Anesthesiologist present virtually all surgeries must be postponed.” Surgical procedures are a hospital’s primary source of revenue and therefore a Radiologist and an Anesthesiologist must always be available. That’s where a locums firm comes in. Delta Locum Tenens has a stable of certified physicians who are available on short notice to travel to the facilities in need and fill in the gaps.

Delta Locum Tenens along with its parent company Delta Medical Consulting will relocate their headquarters in early May 2004 to the Millennium Center in Las Colinas, Texas. You may contact Delta Locum Tenens at 1-800-521-5060.
