SourceOne Healthcare Technologies, Inc. Continues to Meet the U.S. Military’s Needs for Advanced Medical Equipment
Thirty-four advanced computed radiography systems were shipped from Mentor, Ohio to frontline medical care units in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mentor, OH (PRWEB) July 8, 2005 -- SourceOne Healthcare Technologies, Inc.,
one of the nation’s leading distributors of medical imaging systems, equipment,
radiographic consumable supplies, and service to healthcare providers, today
announced that it has shipped 34 OREX Computer Radiography (CR) Systems from
it’s Mentor, Ohio headquarters to the Kelly Air Force Base to be forward
deployed into Iraq and Afghanistan.
To date, SourceOne has sold more than
300 OREX PcCR 1417 systems to the U.S. Military. OREX, a wholly owned subsidiary
of Eastman Kodak Company’s (NYSE: EK) Health Group, is a leading provider of
compact, high-performance mobile CR systems designed to deliver digital patient
x-ray images from virtually anywhere via secured satellite.
“Since 2002,
we have worked very closely with OREX and key military medical personnel to
deliver OREX’s CR solution across many branches of the U.S. Armed Services,”
said Jerry C. Cirino, president and CEO, SourceOne Healthcare Technologies, Inc.
“We are committed to serving as the U.S. Military’s ‘Integrator of Choice.’”
“The U.S. Armed Services are now benefiting from wide deployment of
OREX’s battlefield-proven CR solution which we have backed with extensive
training, service and technical support tailored specifically for Level I, II
and III medical treatment centers located around the world.”
Weighing
only 88 pounds, OREX’s PcCR 1417 small format CR solution is one of the most
versatile and flexible compact systems on the market. With an industry leading
speed of up to 150 plates per hour, OREX’s CR solution is a complete
plug-and-play imaging system that combines filmless laser scanners, erasable
phosphor plates, advanced image management software and a PC-based review
station.
The U.S. Military selected OREX’s PcCR1417 because of the
system’s ability to deliver high quality images with the benefit of a portable
desktop configuration. The system is completely enclosed, can be set-up within
five minutes, and can withstand the extreme environment of the Middle East. The
OREX CR unit is digital, allowing it to meet a range of difficult challenges
without the need for developers, darkrooms and chemicals. These attributes make
the Orex CR solution valuable in a wide range of settings where traditional
X-ray capability is limited or impossible.
With wide deployment of the
PcCR1417, the U.S. Armed Forces has been able to streamline its medical imaging
procedures resulting in a higher standard of care in military settings. In some
field locations, digital patient x-ray images are saved to a CD and sent with
the patient to military medical centers for treatment.
In other
situations, CDs are sent in ahead of the patient so that preparations for
treatment may be made in advance. Complex studies can also be read by
radiologists located around the world via teleradiology made possible with
secure satellite transmission of images.
“Our relationship with the U.S.
Armed Services is a perfect example of our experience in working with
best-in-class manufacturers like OREX to create win-win solutions for customers
of all types,” said Cirino. “I am proud of our team’s ability to work out a
complex deployment strategy making reliable medical diagnostic technology
available to the U.S. Armed Services in remote locations around the
world.”
