New Release Mystery Sparks Interest in Traumatic Brain Injury & Receives Great Review
'A Flamboyant Disarray of Dreams', by Joy Lee Rutter, sparks interest in the little-known subject matter; traumatic brain injury. Midwest Rewiew says: "The book is enticing with its wild disarray, weird magical moments and plagued with paranoid delusions. A fast paced excellent read..."
(PRWEB) November 11, 2004 -- To understand the extent of brain injuries is to
possess the understanding of what it takes to work in a neuro-rehab. The main
character, Joleen Cumberland, deals with hostile patients, verbal and physical
assaults, miracles and her own personal burn out. Joleen is at her wits end
after seven years of working at the rehab center, Rivers Edge. Everyday she had
"a fear as if she was entering the belly of a gigantic sleeping
monster".
Between her irritating co-worker, Brad and her new patient
Mitch Stevens along with his brother Geoff, life starts to take an interesting
twist. There are many gripping moments all through out the book. One in
particular is when Joleen is kicked in the head by one of her patients. There
are times when patients leap into rages, toss off prosthesis body parts and
attack with toys. Through all this chaos, workers maintain their sanity, make
major leaps in helping their patients and Joleen finds love.
The author
has done a splendid job of bringing to life engrossing characters. The patients,
co-workers and families are all substantial in description and dialogue. A
Flamboyant Disarray of Dreams is a highly intelligent provocative novel. The
book is enticing with its wild disarray, weird magical moments and plagued with
paranoid delusions. A fast paced excellent read with an intriguing theory on the
Roadrunner cartoon.

Brief
Author Biography:
Ms. Rutter moved to New Hampshire from Florida in
September of 1996. During her difficult adjustment period to a new environment,
she began keeping a journal. Eventually, it led into writing essays. Ms. Rutter
finds humor in odd places and it inspires an idea for one of her "viewpoint of
humankind's oddities" writings.
After acclimatizing to the severe
changes in seasons, she began kayaking in the summer and snowshoeing in the
winter; writing has been an on again, off again passion. Non-fiction being her
preference, a novel was never in her plans. However, she wrote her first book 'A
Disturbing Presence' on an impulse. A strange conversation with her
step-daughter sparked an idea and Joy took off with it. Her day job as a
Rehabilitation Specialist in a traumatic brain injury facility is the basis for
her second book, 'A Flamboyant Disarray of Dreams'. Besides her job, her
writing, and promoting her books, Joy Lee keeps busy with her husband, two
teenage sons, and her cats Mugzi & Li-Lu.
Rutter is a member of the
New Hampshire Writers Association and several internet writers groups.
