(PRWEB) January 7, 2005 -- As I look back on my life, it seems to me that
often, I have taken the hardest road to get where I was going, not once, but
many times. I, for whatever reason kept refusing to change a bad habit I had of
picking up strays, broken folks who needed a hand. To make matters worse, it
only got more difficult for me, next time round. (I don’t imagine I’m alone
here.) The value then of telling any part of my story is that it gives me the
ability to step back and see how I managed to get myself into the same mess time
after time and to realize what it took for me to finally ‘get it’ and move
on.
We can’t always write these stories right away because the situations
that bring about these ‘aha’ moments can create such havoc and crisis in our
lives. It can take many years and much processing to come to terms with what
happened and to then find meaning among the memory debris.
My
Story
Just recently I wrote such a story. It took me eighteen years to be
able to do that and as I wrote, I experienced a deluge of long-forgotten
memories. My story is about chaos, stress, relationships, truth, integrity and
courage. It is a story that taught me more about life than I ever imagined I
might want to know. Even now I sometimes wonder whether it happened…but it did,
it definitely did. As I go over the story I realize with the 20/20 vision of my
present vantage point, that I am truly the wiser for the experience for I
realize that the wisdom I gleaned from this story, was to help me through some
very rocky times over the next years of my life.
And the Essential
wisdom…
Do you have an old story that lies deep within you…a story you have
never been able to lay to rest? Oftentimes these stories have so much baggage
attached to them that the weight overwhelms. That burden of grief, or anger, or
rage or sadness you carry, stops you from being able to live your life fully.
At this time, when you look to the promise of a brand New Year, why not
give yourself the gift of peace and forgiveness. Lay to rest, some segment of
your life that wants to be healed. Make space for the new that is coming,
Witness to My Future http://www.worldofwork.com/community/article.shtml is my story
about a part of my life. Read it and know how meaningful it has been to bring
this saga of my life to closure.
