ATP Introduces Highest Capacity MMCplus™ and MMCmobile™, The New High Speed MultiMediaCards. ATP MMCplus™ (up to 1GB) and MMCmobile™ (up to 512MB) product lines unveiled, a breakthrough allowing for high transfer rates in next generation mobile applications.
Sunnyvale, CA. (Oct. 24, 2004) – ATP Electronics, Inc. the leading manufacturer of high capacity, high performance digital flash media products, today introduced its new high speed MMCplus and MMCmobile product lines, both to be offered in the highest capacities of 1GB and 512MB, respectively. Both form factors feature capabilities for high transfer rates (read 20MB/s and write 15MB/s) and backwards compatibility with standard MMC devices, RS-MMC devices, and the majority of SD devices.
(PRWEB) October 25, 2004 -- The new ATP MMCplus and MMCmobile cards are
scheduled to be unveiled Oct 25th-27th at the 2004 CTIA Wireless IT &
Entertainment Show in San Francisco, CA, where ATP will display its latest
technology in booth #565. MMCmobile and MMCplus are the new high speed memory
card standards (version 4.x) recently released from the MultiMediaCard
Association. These allow for a large data bus width (x1, x4, or x8 bits) as well
as a healthy increase in the clock frequency (up to 52 Mhz from a previous limit
of 20 Mhz). These factors in conjunction raise the maximum transfer rate from
the existing 2.5MB/s up to 52MB/s. In addition to the enormous transfer rate
improvement, both MMCplus and MMCmobile standards feature dual voltage
capability. This enables the cards to operate either at the existing 2.7-3.6V or
at a low voltage of 1.65-1.95V. The low voltage translates to even lower power
consumption, meaning longer battery life for both today and tomorrow’s mobile
digital devices.
“We believe that the MMCplus and MMCmobile cards will
be a major driver in enabling the new mobile phone and digital imaging
applications” said Scott Herbert, executive director of the MultiMediaCard
Association. “The advantages of these cards: small size, high data transfer, low
operating voltage, and compatibility will allow new services in the mobile
digital market.”
”ATP is excited to bring such high capacity and
performance MMCplus and MMCmobile memory cards to the market” said Danny Lin,
vice president of ATP. “As a leading manufacturer of small form factor flash
memory cards, we are committed to innovate continuously and bring to the market
not only cards based on the latest standards, but with best quality, performance
and compatibility to meet and exceed our customer’s demand for high quality,
content rich data storage intensive applications.”
ATP’s new MMCmobile
and MMCplus memory cards offer the same advanced features as ATP’s other flash
card products allowing for ample protection from water, dust, ESD
(electro-static discharge), and extreme temperatures ranging from –40C to 85C.
This allows for versatility and durability rarely found today in flash memory
cards.
