New York, NY (PRWEB) July 18, 2005 -- Harris, Rothenberg International, LLC a
global performance management company has been appointed to the New
York Business Group on Health’s Mental Health Task Force. Harris, Rothenberg
also serves on the organization’s Elder Care Task Force.
The New York
Business Group on Health (NYBGH), a non-profit coalition of New York-based
employers that works on finding solutions to various healthcare issues, formed
the Mental Health Task Force in response to the continual poor rating mental
health treatment has been getting in the reports put out by NYS Health
Accountability Foundation of which NYBGH is a part. Every year the reports have
shown that NYS mental health treatment has fallen very short in providing
comprehensive care for issues such as depression in relation to the rest of the
country.
Harris, Rothenberg International, headquartered in New York, is
a global provider of performance management services including employer and
employee assistance plans (EAP). EAPs are often an employee’s first entrée into
seeking help with their mental health need and therefore play a vital role in
helping employees acquire the skills to manage their behavioral health issues
and get back to peak performance at work.
Over eighty-percent of large
employers offer EAP services as an employee benefit, giving employees and their
family members confidential, 24/7 access to professionals who assist in the
identification and resolution of a broad range of personal and work-related
problems, including mental health.
"It is an honor and pleasure to be a
part of the Mental Health Task Force," says Hope Ashby, LCSW, PhD and director
of Harris, Rothenberg’s EAP services. "We applaud the New York Business Group on
Health for recognizing the important role that EAPs play in providing access to
mental health care and look forward to being involved in discussions to help
employers’ better address workplace mental health issues."
