New Workplace Options Service Helps Family Members Coordinate Caregiving for Older Loved Ones
Workplace Options, the leading provider of work/life programs to corporate America, through partnerships with employee assistance (EAP) companies, has launched a new service that helps family members coordinate care for aging loved ones and/or children with special needs.
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) July 18, 2005 -- Workplace Options, the leading provider
of work/life programs to corporate America, through partnerships with employee
assistance (EAP) companies, has launched a new service that helps family members
coordinate care for aging loved ones and/or children with special
needs.
The new service, called CareCoach,
addresses a critical need amongst caregivers that is not currently being met
through traditional employee benefit programs like work/life resource and
referral and geriatric care management services (GCM). While these benefits can
help employee caregivers find resources and information and assess care giving
needs, they do not help facilitate communication amongst family members, which
leads to caregiver stress, poor care giving decisions and/or missed
appointments.
With CareCoach, a Workplace Options care coach organizes
and coordinates a teleconference with family members and other care-giving
stakeholders. The care coach explains available options, presents an action plan
and builds consensus amongst the family members. Once consensus is reached, the
care coach will coordinate the care plan, insure issue resolution and insure
ongoing communication amongst family members.
"For the primary
care-giver, there is often more stress associated with communicating and
negotiating care between family members than there is in actually delivering
that care," says Alan King, chief operating office of Workplace Options. "Our
care coaches are highly skilled at gathering facts, facilitating communications
and helping families to support each other as care-givers."
The
Workplace Options CareCoach program works by inserting a care coach as a
facilitator in the care-giving process. They provide an impartial, but
knowledgeable presence to assist with communication amongst family members, to
keep the focus on what needs to be done for the loved one, and to help develop
and implement the care-giving action plan.
Employee Assistance Plans who
subscribed to the Workplace Options Advantage Enhanced service will have access
to the new CareCoach service at no additional charge. Others may access the new
service for a small fee. Please contact Workplace Options for
more information.
