Missoula, MT (PRWEB) April 12, 2005 -- RemoteScan corporation, the makers of
network connectivity software for document scanners and digital cameras, today
announced the release of RemoteScan for Medical Practice™. Hospitals, medical
clinics and doctor offices can now use any kind of document scanner - including
card scanners designed for scanning patient insurance cards - from any remotely
hosted software application running on Windows® Terminal Services or from
Citrix® environments. With RemoteScan for Medical Practice, documents can be
scanned directly into any Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Patient Record or
Document Management software package.
"With HIPPA requiring
confidentiality of patient information," says Steve Saroff, President of
RemoteScan, "Medical practices establishing paperless office work flows had a
challenge scanning from end user computers to centralized software servers.
RemoteScan solved this problem. Our software makes it easy for scanned documents
to securely become part of an individual personal record."
RemoteScan for
Medical Practice™ uses RDP and ICA protocols, and includes "Pass Through
Scanning," which buffers and compresses images locally then automatically
streams the data to application software as bandwidth becomes available.
Additional features of the software include custom templates for configuring
scanning options - such as image resolution and area - so that scanned documents
can be consistent regardless of what new brands or models of scanners become
installed at a health facility. RemoteScan also comes with a self-configuring
installation system which means that in Terminal Services or Citrix
environments, RemoteScan is simple to install.
RemoteScan software is
currently used by hospitals and clinics with software packages from a4 Health
Systems, Epic Software Systems, GE, McKesson, and numerous other medical
software providers.
RemoteScan software works with all TWAIN or WIA
scanners, and converts any scanner into a fully functional network scanner.
RemoteScan software is available directly from the company web site at http://www.remote-scan.com
as well as from numerous VARs. The retail price is $189 per end user. Volume
pricing is available.
