Medversant Receives NCQA Certification
Medversant's credentialing verification organization receives NCQA certification.
(PRWEB) August 4, 2005 -- On July 28, 2005 Medversant Technologies received
notification that it was certified for 10 out of 10 elements by the National
Committee on Quality Assurance. Matthew Haddad, CEO of Medversant stated, "We
are please to have again been certified by NCQA and I am proud of our
credentialing services group for their achievement." NCQA's CVO Certification is
a quality assessment program designed to assist managed care organizations
(MCOs) in assessing Credentials Verification Organizations (CVOs) and other
organizations that verify the credentials of physicians. NCQA's CVO
Certification program evaluates a CVO's management of credentialing functions,
and the process it uses to continuously improve the services it provides.
NCQA surveys are rigorous on-site evaluations conducted by a team of
health care professionals and certified credentialing specialists. A national
oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team's findings and determines
certification based on the CVO's performance against NCQA standards.
These standards --- developed with the assistance of representatives
from the credentials verification industry, as well as input from managed care
organizations --- are demanding. Certified CVOs will meet these standards, as
well as all applicable Credentialing Standards from NCQA's Standards for the
Accreditation of Managed Care Organizations.
NCQA's CVO certification
reduces duplicative oversight and inefficient gathering of information by health
plans and CVOs. For managed care organizations seeking to be accredited by NCQA,
CVO Certification takes the place of health plan reviews of a CVO's structure
and performance in verifying provider credentials. Accordingly, MCOs who
contract for credentials verification with an organization that has been
certified by NCQA will be exempt from some due-diligence oversight requirements
specified in NCQA Credentialing Standard CR 12 (2004/2005 STDS) for all
verification services for which the organization has been certified.
Certification status is not a guarantee of satisfaction with an
individual service or product offered by the CVO. However, CVOs that are
certified have demonstrated that they provide the protections required by NCQA's
Standards, that they have developed a sound management structure, and that they
monitor, and are continually improving, the quality of the services they
deliver.
NCQA is a private, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization
dedicated to improving health care quality. The organization is frequently
referred to as a watchdog for the managed care industry, but NCQA also
recognizes individual doctors and medical groups. Employers and consumers use
information provided by NCQA to make more informed health care choices. NCQA’s
mission is to improve the quality of health care.
Headquartered in
Woodland Hills, California, Medversant provides medical staff management
