One in Five Women Will Be Singing Holiday Blues of Pain and Discomfort

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) November 26, 2004 -- The holidays are here again. For
most it is a time for parties, presents, food, fun, and get-togethers with
family and friends, but for millions of women the holidays mean pain and
suffering. The holiday scrooge is cystitis and it affects one in five women.
Both cystitis, also commonly known as urinary tract infection, and
candida, a fungal overgrowth, occur year round and affect millions of females of
all ages. “Cystitis is the bane of womankind and its symptoms can range from
mild discomfort to searing life-debilitating pain,” says Angela Kilmartin,
author of The Patient’s Encyclopedia of Urinary Tract Infection, Sexual
Cystitis, and Interstitial Cystitis and Candida Yeast.
“Cystitis is
usually caused by bacteria passing through the uretha into the bladder,” says
Kilmartin. “There are other ways to cause it, however, particularly during the
holiday season where instances of cystitis and candida are usually
high.”
Kilmartin attributes the rise in cases to cold weather, increased
alcohol intake, lack of rest, heightened stress, and irresponsible sexual
behavior. “You had better put away those chocolates and holiday sweets as well,”
says Kilmartin. “The ingredients in chocolate can cause candida and lead to
painful suffering.”
Favorite holiday gifts can also be a factor in
developing problems. “Bubble bath, scented soap, scented powders, and even
certain types of festive clothing can also make you sick,” says Kilmartin.
Before making any last-minute trips to the lingerie shop for holiday gifts,
learn which types of clothing to avoid. “Purchasing the wrong kind of lingerie
for Christmas can lead to several months of misery,” says Kilmartin.
“Women need to beware of the causes of these problems and the methods to
prevent them, especially this time of the year,” says Kilmartin. “Pain and
discomfort should never be a part of the holidays.”
Angela Kilmartin is
the world’s leading specialist on cystitis and candida. “It is my personal
mission to show women all over the world how to avoid the health problems that
can devastate relationships, jobs, social life, and general well-being,”
Kilmartin says.
After recurring attacks of cystitis and candida ended
her singing career and ruined her marriage, Kilmartin founded the first bladder
charity, famously known as the U&I Club.
Her
pioneering research on cystitis and candida have carried her message all over
the world. She has written six books, numerous articles, and has made two films
on the subject. She also counsels and gives lectures throughout the United
States and Europe.
