New Electronic Medical Records for the Sugarland Women's Health Center - Sugar Land & SW Houston Ob/Gyn Center
The Sugarland Women's Health Center is pleased to announce the new partnership with Eclinical works for the installation and implementation of our electronic medical records. This partnership would further our leadership goal in leveraging technology to improve the quality of healthcare for our patients in the Sugar Land/SW Houston area.
(PRWEB) November 2, 2004 -- Information technology has completely changed how
we live, work, and play today. Unfortunately, the one place where it has not
been widely accepted is at your physician's office. According to recent
statistics, only about ten to fifteen percent of physicians use computers to
keep track of their patient's medical information. Reasons for not being up to
date include lack of computer skills, disruption of the current work flow, and
the expense and time required to implement a new system.
We feel that
this is a very important issue in the practice of medicine today. An electronic
medical record system does require a large investment of time and money, but the
benefits for our patient care is enormous and well worth our best effort. Clear
advantages of an electronic medical record include:
1) Clear, legible
documentation - reducing the chance for mistakes or misinterpretation of the
physician's hand writing.
2) Easy and fast access - providing immediate
availability of patient information whenever it is needed for patient care.
Sending records to other health care providers now take a few mouse clicks and a
few minutes rather than copying and mailing charts which could take weeks.
3) Safe storage and backup - duplicating copies of your records in case
of catastrophes such as flood or fire which would destroy any paper
charts.
What this means to our patients is a system that will allow easy
access to their records, reduce medical errors, and improve medical
care.
Would you trust a bank that still keep your records with pen and
paper? We do not believe that we should trust your medical information to pen
and paper, not when the technology is readily available to do much better.
We are pleased to announce our new partnership with Eclinicalworks in
the implementation of an electronic medical record system for our center. We
would be the first ob/gyn center in the Sugarland/SW Houston area to implement
such a system. This would further our leadership goal in leveraging technology
to improve the quality of healthcare for our patients.

About the Sugarland Women’s Health Center
The Sugarland Women's
Health Center is a medical practice in Sugar Land, Texas (SW Houston)
specializing in women's health care. From routine annual exam to complex
gynecologic condition; from normal non-interventional pregnancy to high risk
obstetrics, our mission is to provide the best quality ob/gyn care in a
comfortable and friendly family oriented environment. We believe that in order
to achieve that quality of care, we must have the time to establish a trusting
relationship with our patients. Our position in a small practice with a limited
number of patients affords us that time. The five minute visits with a waiting
room packed full of patients are not conducive to good patient-physician
communication much less good health care.
We
make it a priority to establish a personal relationship with each of our
patients. Our philosophy is that medical decisions regarding your health should
be made by the patient-physician team. Our goal is to provide you with the
information and education to make informed decisions. Our job is to apply our
medical training, technical expertise, and the latest medical technology
available to carry out those decisions.
Whether
it is your birthing experience, women's health maintenance, or gynecologic
conditions, we strive to provide you with the best care possible - the care that
can only come from unrushed personal contact with your own
obstetrician/gynecologist. We believe that in taking the time to develop a long
term trusting relationships, we can better achieve our goal of optimum patient
satisfaction as well as physicians' and staff's job satisfaction.
You should not have to see only the nurse when
you visit your doctor. You should not have to wait hours in a double or triple
booked waiting room for your appointment. And, you do not have to wait months
for your next appointment. We want to treat you the way we want to be treated.
Of course this means that we will not be able to take more new patients during
certain months, but that is the only way we can be sure that we are giving our
current patients adequate attention.
Obstetrics
& Gynecology is the core of our women's health practice. In either
obstetrical care or gynecologic conditions, we are firm believers in minimal
intervention. We prefer to keep your birthing experience as natural as possible
with minimal surgical intervention. We strive to maintain our low cesarean
section rate (we have one of the lowest rates in the Sugar Land/Houston area).
Our role in obstetrics is to constantly monitor for possible complications and
to act appropriately and expeditiously if such complication arises. Baring those
conditions, your birthing experience should be as natural as possible.
Likewise, we prefer to manage most gynecologic condition medically first
resorting to surgery only if necessary. If you do need surgery, we are
specialized in minimally invasive surgery to facilitate more rapid recovery. A
hysterectomy, for example, if done by the traditional vaginal or abdominal
approach will require several days of hospitalization and six to eight weeks of
recovery time. Performed laparoscopically, the new procedure can be done on an
out-patient, day-surgery basis. Time out from work is one to two weeks.
Likewise, incontinence surgeries such as a Burch or an MMK procedure
traditionally require an abdominal incision and a lengthy recovery. They also
carry greater risks of bleeding, infection and postoperative pain. Now minimally
invasive obturator sling procedure can be performed in fifteen minutes requiring
little anesthesia or postoperative pain medication.
And of course, we also provide comprehensive
women's health care maintenance and preventive medicine from annual exam, to
birth control, to postmenopausal care.
In
summary, the most advanced technology backed by caring physicians with good
medical expertise, sufficient time for thoroughness, and well educated patients
make for good medicine. We have no desire to become the biggest, the busiest, or
even the most profitable practice in Sugar Land. We want to build a comfortable
place where our physicians and staffs can derive daily satisfaction in caring
for our patients.
