Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) April 15, 2005 -- Performance clothing designer and manufacturer Girls4Sport is proud to sponsor longboard champion, Summer Romero. Romero recently placed 1st in the first of three contests in the 2005 U.S. Longboard Championship series that kicked off in Cocoa Beach, Florida on March 25 and continues her reign as one of the top women longboarders.

“Girls4Sport’s mission is to inspire girls of all ages to lead confident, active lives,” says Kim Ruby, President of Girls4Sport. “Summer’s passion for surfing combined with her career goals, makes her a stand-out as a G4S Team Rider. Our team riders are accomplished athletes and genuine role models -- successfully balancing work, school, sport, exercise, and life.”

Summer’s Soul
From the minute she took to the waters off San Diego, California at the age of 14, Romero was hooked on surfing. Romero, 23, started competing in 1999 and has since climbed to the top ranks in women’s longboarding with her stylistic skills. Balancing and attaining all her goals is another one of Romero’s skills. Romero was recently accepted to The School of Nursing at San Diego State University. She surfs everyday she can, at least five days per week, pushing her surfing to new levels and preparing for competitions around the world.

Romero’s most recent first place win at the 2005 U.S. Longboard Championship Series in Cocoa Beach tops off her other title wins: 2004 Women’s World Longboard Champion and 2nd in the 2003 U.S. Longboard Championships. These are just a few on top of her other regional contest titles.

“Surfing has taken me places I never thought I would see. I’ve met amazing new friends who share the same passion,” says Summer Romero. “Each surf session allows me to express myself in new ways and gives me renewed energy for school work.”

In addition to surfing to stay active, Romero has recently started to rock climb. Bob’s Mission Surf Shop, Hotline Wetsuits, Hawaiian Pro Design Surfboards, Ocean Earth, and Zinka also sponsor Romero.
