Clinical Trial of Nutritional Supplement Shows Impressive Results for Non-cystic Acne without Antibiotic-associated Side Effects
A clinical trial of a nutritional supplement consisting of vitamins, minerals and an herb demonstrating exceptionally good ability to improve non-cystic acne was recently presented at the American Academy of Dermatology's Summer meeting.
(PRWEB) Aug. 1, 2005 --A proprietary nutritional supplement (patent pending)
consisting of seven vitamins and minerals and one herb demonstrated surprisingly
good results in a clinical trial for non-cystic acne. The study data was
presented as a scientific poster (P8) at the American Academy of Dermatology's
Summer meeting (Academy '05) July 20-24, this year.
For the study, a
group of patients from a dermatologist's office were chosen at random to enroll
in the study which required that the patients use the nutritional supplement
only - no other acne-fighting medications, cleansers or procedures were allowed.
After just 30 days there was an approximately 50% reduction in noncystic acne
lesions. The patients also preferred the supplement several-fold compared to any
previous treatment they had tried.
The supplement is marketed under the
name Accunatural(TM) by Skinutrients, LLC, a Florida company founded by a
practicing dermatologist to develop natural solutions to skin problems using
sound scientific principles.
Accunatural is completely free of any
antibiotic-type side effects normally encountered during conventional acne
treatment such as photosensitivity, GI upset, yeast infections, and development
of resistant bacteria. In addition, the non-antibiotic approach of Accunatural
eliminates the possibility of transfer of bacterial resistance from
Proprionobacterium acnes to more serious pathogens such as MRSA, a dangerous
bacteria occuring in many communities now due to the overuse of
antibiotics.
