(PRWEB) February 7, 2005 -- Local dentist, and owner of Lifesmiles, Randy R. Mitchmore, DDS has agreed to volunteer his services for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry® (AACD) Give Back A Smile Program™ (GBAS) to heal the effects of domestic violence by providing free consultation and dental treatment to restore the smiles of survivors.

With more than 5 million people affected by domestic violence in America each year, AACD dentist like Mitchmore provide a valuable service to their communities. By correcting the dental damage caused by abuse, survivors not only regain a smile but self esteem and ultimately rejuvenated lives.

How the Program Works

- Domestic violence survivors who have suffered dental injuries as a direct result of the abuse can contact the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) by calling the GBAS national toll-free number, 800 773 4227. All applicants must apply for the program through the NCADV.
- The survivor then undergoes screening sessions with the NCADV and a local counselor of his or her choice to determine if he or she is eligible for the program.
- If eligible, the survivor is then referred to the AACD for acceptance. The AACD connects the survivor with a local GBAS volunteer who provides treatment at no charge.
