QRS Diagnostic Secures Continuation on Key Patent
Continuation Strengthens QRS’ Patents on Diagnostic Devices in Computer Cards
MINNEAPOLIS - May 25, 2004 - QRS Diagnostic, leader in innovative design and
development of software-based medical devices, announces that the United States
Patent and Trademark Office approved a new patent on its design of medical
devices contained in computer cards, including PCMCIA PC Cards and Compact Flash
(CF) Cards. Patent No. 6,712,762, approved on March 30, 2004, is a continuation
of Patent No. 6,159,147, which QRS received on December 12, 2000. The new patent
fortifies QRS’ intellectual property rights on its computer-card medical device
technology.
“With our patented technology, QRS encodes the intelligence
of physiological data acquisition and analysis into computer cards,” says
Spencer Lien, chief executive officer, QRS Diagnostic. “Our computer card
devices, with integrated sensors, slide right into off-the-shelf notebook
computers, Pocket PCs and PDAs. This makes them work as full-function medical
devices, and that’s the key to the mobility and affordability of our devices for
spirometry, pulse oximetry, diagnostic electrocardiography and blood pressure
monitoring.”
