16,000-Mile Cross Country Trek Raises Money for Cancer Victims
John is going to walk continuously through the 48 contiguous US states and Washington DC. His goal is to raise a minimum of $5 million.
(PRWEB) May 6, 2005 -- John Buoniconti is walking 16,000 miles to raise money
to help uninsured cancer patients pay for life saving treatments. John started
this walk in memory of his parents who lost their battles with cancer when he
was just a child. This made John an orphan by the age of ten.
One of the
ways that he is raising funds is by selling Remembrance Ribbons for a minimum $2
donation. These ribbons will be placed on a banner to remember those that have
lost their battle with cancer as well to honor those that have survived the
disease. You can order a ribbon by checking our website TheBigWalk.org. His goal
is to sell 1 million ribbons during the duration of the event. This would fill
so many banners that it would create a wall of ribbons that would cover an
entire football field. John says "what an amazing testimonial this would make
for cancer patients everywhere" as tears rolled down his cheek.
Event 360
(a logistics company out of Chicago)is the Presenting Sponsor of the event, and
Karma Media is the PR sponsor. The US Jaycees are a national partner with Big
John's Team and will hold fundraisers throughout the country to help raise money
for the cause.
