Fraxel, the latest Beauty Weapon to Hit our Bohemian Village
We may feel younger than we look. However, Aging and sun-damaged skin, wrinkles, fine lines, and brown spots often mask our inner beauty. Fortunately, The Sloane Clinic together with the opening of their new branch is also unveiling the latest Fraxel solution that provides a fresh chance to turn back the clock on aging.
Singapore, (PRWEB) June 17, 2005 -- This month an exciting event will occur
in the beauty community. The Sloane Clinic is opening its second branch in the
heart of Singapore’s trendiest village, hence aptly nicknamed the VillageSpace
branch (43 Jalan Merah Saga, #01-66 Chip Bee Gardens, Holland Village, tel: 6471
1108). This new palace de beauté will offer an unprecedented range of skin
treatments to men as well as women. Nestled snugly between organic grocer
Bunalun and the mouth-watering delights of Michaelangelos and Da Paolos, the new
space will be religiously devoted to the pampering, beautifying and rejuvenating
of the original clinic’s faithful clientele. Dr Kenneth Lee’s exploding male
clientele has enabled this expansion. "Men are embracing their vanity," he said,
"from the city executive guy to the regular pub and beer guy." As he prepared
for the mid-June opening of The Sloane Clinic (VillageSpace), he appeared to
have no qualms about capitalizing on this crazy societal narcissism. "I know how
to speak to a male patient–I understand his insecurities and who he is. With my
female patients, they usually come in knowing exactly what they want."
So
who the hell is he--- this new age metrosexual? "In his head he’s a 28-year-old
guy. One day he looks in the mirror, and he’s not happy with what he sees but
feels too macho to walk into a beauty parlour," said Dr. Lee. "I know that if I
can make him look closer to the way he feels, he will feel better about
himself."
And is there a female equivalent? “She is someone who is poised and
subtle, yet intelligent enough to differentiate between medical science from
beauty parlour fiction, she chooses to have only the most effective non-surgical
skin fixes for her skin, nothing else.” Says Dr Kenneth Lee.
Even as I
was interviewing him, he was installing the latest laser-- Fraxel. This
revolutionary new laser makes use of new science developed at Harvard
University’s Wellman Laboratories in connection with breakthrough technology
from Reliant. This is apparently the hottest laser in the United States at the
moment, and the one in front of me is the first to hit our shores! This beauty
breakthrough lets his patients look positively amazing without the catch of
looking like an ugly red lobster that used to accompany traditional laser
resurfacing. For patients who have been shuffling from one clinic to the next in
search of the next big thing, this superb laser peel is the holy grail when it
comes to making your skin baby soft, getting rid of stubborn pigment, acne scars
and fine lines. Even acne is reduced and initial studies show that results are
maintained even a year after the treatment! Dr Kenneth flipped through some
before and after, the difference was truly stunning, and I was prepared to jump
in for a go, redness or not.
“For a working girl like yourself who does
not want to look ridiculously red for weeks on end yet want to have beautifully
smooth skin without the gimmicks and the tricky maintenance regimes, you should
opt for this. Patients see an improvement in their skin texture, fine lines,
pigmentation, acne scars and even acne after one session though some patients go
for the full course at 4-6 sessions for the best possible results. I can give
you that with this treatment." For $1250 for 1 session or $5000 for 5 sessions
that is.
Feeling very bohemian (as in "I haven’t got enough cash to
spare"), I eschew the world of high tech lasers, botox and collagen fillers,
opting instead for a classic epicuren facial ($170), the signature facial for
celebrity clients is administered with great dexterity by a smiley aesthetician.
This much sought after facial, one of Sarah Jessica Parker’s (Sex in the City)
favourites involves citrus and herbal cleansing, a hot enzyme peel and two
masks: one to extract toxins–whatever they are–and the second to tighten and
lift. Except for the nerve-racking moments when we discussed my toxins, I found
the whole treatment unbelievably soothing. . The highlight was the use of
“Liquid Gold,” the Enzyme Concentrate that makes your skin light, tighten and
glow. (If you can only afford one treatment in the line, this is the one.)My
face may have looked exactly the same after (the uneven eyes, the pudgy nose)
but the skin definitely looked more radiant– and I felt utterly
soothed.
Clutching an armful of free brochures to show them off to my
envious friends (and secretly plan my next trip for a more drastic overhaul), I
trooped off into the rustic laziness of this bohemian village. Sleepy on the
outside but full of gems on the inside.
