Wickenburg, AZ (PRWEB) June 29, 2005 -- Gatehouse Academy, a leading provider
of residential drug rehab services for young adults age 17-25, has partnered
with Michael W. Carlton, MD, founder and CEO of Phoenix Recovery to provide
young adults better access to drug and alcohol detoxification services. Services
will be provided at Phoenix area detox centers, of which, Dr. Carlton has
admitting privileges.
“Everyone knows that the use of oxycotin, heroine
and other opiates are on the rise and we are seeing this first hand in our
residents and our callers”, reports Robert Pfeifer, MSW, of Gatehouse Academy.
“Many of our young adults coming into our facilities, need 3-7 days of medically
supervised treatment prior to admission. Without this partnership, we would be
struggling to access Phoenix-based detox beds. Dr. Carlton brings access as well
as expertise.”
As Medical Director of several Phoenix area treatment
centers and hospitals, Dr. Carlton has medically managed over 25,000 individuals
withdrawing from drugs and alcohol. Additionally, his role as Medical Director
provides him admitting privileges to the major area detox centers. Michael
Carlton, MD is a physician certified by the American Society of Addiction
Medicine.
According to the 2000 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse
(NHSDA) "The percent of the population who needed (drug rehab) treatment for an
illicit drug use problem was highest among persons aged 18 to 25 years (5.7
percent). An estimated 1.6 million persons aged 18 to 25 needed drug rehab
treatment for an illicit drug problem.
“Gatehouse Academy is filling a
critical niche in the treatment industry, providing long-term residential
treatment services for the young adult population.” says Dr. Carlton. “I’ve
always been impressed with the work they do and this further shows me that they
understand the role of the medical and mental health community in regards to
providing quality treatment.”
This sentiment is echoed by Kent Sherman,
CEO, “Our core competency is providing residential drug and alcohol recovery
services and life skills training to young adults. We know our expertise and
will continue to execute on it, yet we feel the need to provide quality services
for young adults coming to our attention.”
